Cauquenes, Chile, August 26, 2010.
Just a month after the earthquake which hit Haiti last January, another 8.8-magnitude earthquake shook Chile caused a tsunami that kills over 500 personas y afectaba a casi dos millones, de los cuales 1.200.000 son niños y niñas. Yo I was lucky, but many other families. "
The earthquake and the changes in the life of Francisca
Francisca's family, aged 10, also was lucky it could save your life, but lost their homes in the earthquake. As thousands of families, the earthquake surprised them while they slept. "My mother was screaming and I woke up. Mama was waiting but fell a wall. Then he stood on the edge of the door when another wall fell and my mom I covered and you drop it "(...)" Then we went to the bottom because a door fell, we went back and stayed there until we went to look, "says Francisca.
The earthquake has brought many changes in the life of Francisca. He feels he has lost something as valuable as the places where I used to play and now they are gone. In the days following the disaster, managed to recover two photographs. "I see every day these pictures because I forgot what it was before and the things he did, how was my house. Every time I do something, spend a little while and I forget. The pictures help me to remember. I would not, but I forget things and I happened since the quake happened and my house fell down. When my dad goes to work I give lots of hugs because I do not I forget that too. "

"In an emergency, children are most vulnerable, frightened, in many cases are forced to leave their homes, have lost a family member or friends. To speed up the recovery process is critical that children resume their studies and to recover their routines soon, "said Soteres. Save the Children has provided training to 334 teachers from 10 schools and 37 centers in rural and urban Chanco, Pelluhue and Cauquenes on stress management in children.
