Beatriz Merino urges the Ministry of Energy and Mines to give priority attention to the regulatory process must conform to ILO Convention No. 169 of the ILO.

Merino, took the opportunity to express the readiness of the Ombudsman to assist in the process of implementing the right to consultation with indigenous peoples.
For his part, Ivan Lanegra, Deputy Environment, Public Services and Indigenous Peoples of the Ombudsman recalled that, despite still not having the rules, the right to consultation is in force and has been ratified by the Constitutional Court.
"Even after more than 15 years since the incorporation of this right in our legal system, the effect of the ratification of Convention No. 169, the exercise is still a pending matter, "added the official.
Finally, Lanegra argued that "effective implementation of the right to consultation by the Ministry of Energy and Mines, and the issuance of new regulations, constitute invaluable contributions to peace and a message of commitment that sector with the indigenous peoples of Peru. "
